01 Using MyExpense
MyExpense is a tool to help South African freelancers and sole proprietors track income, expenses and mileage, and to organise that information for SARS filing. You agree to use it lawfully and only for your own legitimate record-keeping.
02 Accounts
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract.
03 Billing & early access
- MyExpense Pro is billed at R99 per month, or R1099.00 per year on the annual plan. Prices are in South African Rand. MyExpense (Pty) Ltd is not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added to these prices.
- The first 200 early-access users receive 3 months free. Where a free or promotional period is set to convert into a paid subscription, we will notify you at least 7 days before your first charge, by email or in-app notification, so you can cancel before being billed.
- You can cancel anytime from within the app. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
04 Not tax advice
MyExpense is a record-keeping and estimation tool, not a registered tax practitioner. The information and estimates it provides are general and do not constitute professional tax, legal or financial advice.
You remain responsible for your own SARS obligations, including the accuracy and timely submission of any returns. We recommend confirming your specific position with SARS or a registered tax practitioner.
05 Your data
You retain ownership of the data you enter. We process it in line with our Privacy policy and POPIA. You may export or delete your data at any time, subject to legal record-keeping requirements.
06 Liability
MyExpense is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including penalties, interest or assessments arising from your tax affairs. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for gross negligence, fraud, or any other liability which section 51 of the Consumer Protection Act, or any other law, does not permit us to exclude or limit.
07 Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You and MyExpense (Pty) Ltd agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa for any dispute arising from these terms, without prejudice to your right as a consumer to refer a dispute to the National Consumer Tribunal or another applicable alternative dispute resolution body under the Consumer Protection Act.
